Loveladies

Neighborhood summary

Loveladies Loveladies sits on the northern end of Long Beach Island, between Harvey Cedars and Barnegat Light. As part of Long Beach Township, its beaches and police services are managed by the township.

This section of LBI is known for its expansive lot sizes, private tracts, quiet beaches, and strong demand for lagoon-front living. It’s home to some of the island’s most luxurious, estate-style single-family homes. Thanks to its lower density compared to other parts of LBI, the beaches here are often uncrowded. Most lots are at least 100 feet wide by 100 feet deep—offering a spacious 10,000 square feet of land.

While Loveladies itself is primarily residential, the nearby town of Harvey Cedars offers convenient access to restaurants, shops, and other amenities just a short drive away.

Fun Fact: Each street in Loveladies is considered a “tract,” and addresses are labeled alphabetically as you move from the boulevard toward the ocean or bay. For example, properties closer to the boulevard may have a suffix like “A,” with subsequent homes down the tract labeled “B,” “C,” and so on.

Insider tip

When evaluating value on Long Beach Island, there are typically four golden rules—proximity to the beach and proximity to Beach Haven are two of them. But like any rule, there are exceptions. Loveladies is one of those exceptions. Thanks to its privacy, open space, natural light, and low-density blocks, it stands out as one of the most desirable—and often most expensive—sections of the island, and for good reason.

History

The name “Loveladies” comes from Thomas Lovelady, a prominent sportsman and early resident of a nearby island in the bay. During World War II, the area was temporarily renamed “Long Beach Park,” but it eventually reverted back to Loveladies due to confusion with other similarly named towns.
